My review for My Dad's got an Alligator! & My Sister's got a spoon up her nose! by Jeremy Strong.

These are great for a quick read. Very funny and i liked the lined black and white illustrations. They are about a boy called Nicholas and his hilarious family.

My favourite character is Mr.Tugg who is their annoying next door neighbour. Mr.tugg thinks he knows everything and Nicholas and his family call him the human volcano because he gets angry very easily.

These books are great fun, as are all of the Jeremy Strong books i've read. I rate them 10/10!

My reveiw for scarlet ibis by Gill Lewis

A heart warming story about a 12 year old girl called Scarlet , who is on a journey to get back her brother Conner/Red ,from a care home.

Following a fire at home , Scarlet is fostered out to a family and her autistic brother Red is put into a care home. Their mum is in hospital after inhaling smoke in the fire and unable to care for them.

Scarlet and Red are checked on regularly by Mrs.Gideon who they  call "the penguin" , because their mother does not look after them properly. So Scarlet has a lot of responsibilities at home. I could feel how much she loved her brother and the bond between them was strong.

Scarlet and Red are split up because Red is autistic and needs special care. The author describes well how autism effects Red and their lives. This gave me a better understanding of autism and how it was for Scarlet caring for him.

Red loves birds and collects their   feathers. He especially wants to see a Scarlet Ibis. At night time for a bedtime story he asks Scarlet to tell him an imaginary story about them travelling in a boat to Trinidad to see the Scarlet Ibis flying over Caroni swamp.

The story was very descriptive and I felt as though I was with Scarlet all the way through it. A lot of the story  was sad but still very enjoyable. It is about feelings, emotions and family love.

I would recommend this book to girls 9 and over and I rate it 10/10!
I will definitely be reading more of Gill Lewis's books.

My review of Mars Evacuees By Sophia McDougcall.

Mars Evacuees by Sophia McDougall

The story is about Alice Dare a twelve year old girl evacuated to Mars

to fight the Morrors, like her famous spacefighter mother. She had not seen her
mother for a long time and her father, who was an engineer laying mines under
the ice caps, for even longer.

The Morrors were invisible aliens who came to live on Earth at the Poles saying
they would reverse global warming but instead they started freezing the whole
planet by putting a light shield around it.

Travelling to Mars she meets Josephine a girl her age and they become friends.
Josephine liked to play the harmonica and liked collecting rocks. She was kind
to Alice and reassured her that Earth would be ok again. The book was very
descriptive about the planets and space and think it would appeal to
girls who like science fiction and space adventures.

I enjoyed reading this book even though I could predict the ending.

My Review For Lilliput By Sam Gayton.

Lilliput Lily was 6 moons old when she was taken from Lilliput and now six moons later she is still imprisoned in the bird cage in Mr Plinker the clockmaker's attic.

Escape plan #33 began well as she escaped from the cage. she began to fly using two pigeon feathers she had collected sometime ago, but just as she flew through the open window Gulliver caught her by the end of one feather and yet another plan fails.

In her anger and frustration at being caught she accidently kicks over the candle and sets alight Gulliver's book of travels,so as punishment he puts her in the horrible itchy black sock and hangs it on the door handle.
The next morning Gulliver apologises for the harsh punishment , as the book was not damaged badly, and fears she may try even harder to escape.

Mr Plinker's apprentice , Finn finds a note from Lily that she had attached to a mouse asking for help, unfortunately Horatio Mr Plinker's cat eats him .Finn then rescues her after putting sleeping drops in Gulliver's tea.Her adventures continue with the help of Finn and Mr Ozinda who have to overcome many obstacles to return her to Lilliput safely.
They firstly need to get the book of travels and the bird out of the clock !

Lily was my favourite character, she was kind, brave and although she was only three inches tall was determined to do anything to return home.

Lilliput is a 5/5 star book to me,I loved it and couldn't put it down.I adored the water coloured illustrations and the quotes at the beginning of each part.I hope there is a Lilliput 2! It was very exciting and very well written,a real page turner.I didn't want it to end.
